3D ILLUSTRATION
Sometimes I have been asked to create scenes or worlds that do not exist but must somehow be brought to life to sell a particular message or idea! As realistic as possible usually! 3d software is very complicated and has a steep learning curve but once mastered, or at least kept under control, gives the artist the chance to produce photorealistic, stylised or even cartoon images. Every 3D artist has their own style and particular way of working. Everything from Avatar to Pixar'e Toy Story. It can be used to sell concepts, cars, products or buildings and to make people believe that what they are seeing actually exists!
It is unfortunately quite a slow process. leaves nothing to chance and needs a lot of tests and trials to produce the final image. Compared to traditional photography it is much more flexible thanks to virtual cameras and lighting. Modelling, texturing, simulations, rendering and post production do make it an expensive way to work but is ultimately cheaper than producing physical sets and locations. Not to mention the lack of winged monsters flying around ready for casting!
